That's right, it's hot as a damn sauna outside but it's fall in our hearts. And it's time to get ready for the sixth Royale With Cheese fantasy football season.
Will we finally have a repeat winner this season, or will we have our sixth different champion in six years?
Will SugaLumps climb out of the basement?
Will everyone beat Off Constantly?
Will someone draft Tony Romo only to watch his shoulder shatter into 12 million pieces during Week 6?
Is Joe Flacco an elite quarterback?
So many questions. The answers will come in time.
To get ready for the season, a few notes:
The 2015 champion
You'll remember (unless you blocked it out of your brain like I did) that Free Crab Legs won the 2015 Royale With Cheese championship, which means it's time to put this mug in the Sidebar Shrine. Will he repeat? Or will he suffer the same fate as all other former champs (i.e. do really really poorly)?
Teams
We have no new teams this year, so all 14 teams will be the same as last season. I'm pretty sure that's a first, and I'm excited about it. We do have some new team names, though:
- Watt A Girl Wants (YES)
- Theon's Deflated Balls (This one means nothing to me, which made David mad)
I wouldn't be surprised to see more change. But the Mullet will never die.
Draft
The live online draft is currently set for Saturday, Aug. 27 at 2 p.m. (I'm flexible on time --not day -- so if 2 p.m. doesn't work for you let me know and we may change it.)
If you're in Charlotte, or want to come down that day/weekend, we'll plan to meet at a bar somewhere (location TBA) and do the draft together. If you can't be in Charlotte, you can still do the live draft online (and talk trash with everyone on the chat). If you can't be online for the draft, you can set your predraft rankings and the system will automatically pick for you.
Here's the draft order, based on reverse order of finish last year. (Remember, it's a snake draft, so the draft order reverses each round.)
